Hi there Neil,

excuse Tim, for being rude, but things are a bit different in Holland.

Let me explain why....

We have no commercial lakes in Holland, nor any sindycates (spelling). Anybody can fish anywhere, wich is a good thing. The turnside of this freedom is, that giving info about a certain lake / fishery / swim, could cause a rush of anglers to the lake mentioned. This means that the local anglers can't fish their own lake anymore......

I guess you understand the problem now.

It's not because you're English, because a Dutch person wouldn't get the info in a thread either....

If you ask for info, please ask people to use PB (PM).

So... let me try to make up for Tim's rude behaviour and wish you very welcome in Holland and enjoy your fishing in the cold North

I hope one of the Northerners will sort you out with the info wanted....

if you click on the netherlands, you can zoom in many times.

so you can see all the lakes in holland where ever you would like to go sometimes.as long as you have the right fishing permit i dont see any porblems giving you some info.most of the waters in holland has carp in it,some are harder to fish in then others.but thats something you will have to find out.

Hello Neil,

The best advice I can give you is to visit some meetings of the regio "Noord Nederland" of the KSN (Dutch Carp Study Group). They gather in Tynaarlo a couple of times each winter. I reckon if you get to know a few guys they will be willing to help you.

Maybe u can make a post in 'Vismaat Gezocht' which means: Looking for someone to fish with... Maybe he can help u at a water somewhere around Groningen... Just an idea..

For the rest, it was a bit rude but the 'map idea' still is a good one in my opinion.. There are carps swimming around in allmost every water in the netherlands.. Take a look around, u can also see if there are people fishing by the mess they make ... If there are people fishing, just try...

Misschien moet je zelf maar eens een keer in Engeland gaan vissen, de mensen daar gaan (karpervisserij) veel beter met elkaar om dan hier. Ook wel om de reden die mitz geeft, maar dan toch. Goed onderschrift heeft iemand hier op het board; als afgunst branden wou..........!!!!!!1

Als iemand wildvreemd in een land is kun je hem toch best wat info geven, hoeft alleen maar over de topografische ligging van wateren te gaan, de rest mag je zelf uitzoeken. Als iemand zich uitgeeft voor buitenlander is ie wel heel erg zielig. Iedereen mag in dit land gaan en staan waar hij wil, gelukkig maar, zijn ergere dingen in het leven dan de ligging van een viswater prijsgeven. Een beetje vertrouwen in de mensheid is nooit slecht!!!!!
