I am an englishman living in Germany, between Hannover and Hamburg, I have only been carping for 6 months and don't know where to fish for the big carp over here due to the german catch and kill policy. I was wondering if anyone could tell me of any good dutch lakes not far from the border where I could fish for a few days (and nights) at the beginning of July, not far from the border and what permits/licences I might need. Thank you to anyone who responds.

I have contacts in Germany & the man I know catches enough big carp, so the "kill & catch"-policy is not a excuse! Almost the most of the serieus carpanglers are down with catch & release....

Can you tell me where your friends fish then please, I don't know of anywhere in my area, and never see any serious carp anglers on the waters I fish, I am willing to travel.

Thank you and tight lines

Good morning Darren.

My geography isn't that good (as is my English), but I can inform you that in Holland almost every water contains Carp.
I assume you don't want to fish on pressured water, so I recommend you look at a map and find the nearest Dutch water.
Mostly, the bigger the water, the better the chance on a big fish.
The Dutch rivers can be difficult if you lack the experience, but all (Dutch) rivers contain big Carp. So do the German rivers.

In my opinion, it shouldn't be too difficult to find a Dutch water that suites your goals.

To fish in Dutch waters with two rods, you need a fishing permit (grote vergunning), a membership from the local angling club (Hengelsportvereniging) and another document called “Sportvisakte” which can be obtained at most post offices.
Sometimes you can by a so-called holiday permit (vakantievergunning) at a local tackle shop (Hengelsportzaak). Which is valid for a limited time.
They can also advise you about good swims and/or the necessary permits.

Good luck and tight lines,

Mike

This is the mail I got back from my Germany friend:

I don't know the area and the waters from this carphunter, and I think
also it is an easy work to asked other carphunter for nice waters per
an anounce. The normal way is to visite some waters and make their
own way to find a nice water with a future for a long time.
I am sorry, but I could not help this english man.

Big greetings to all
Thomas

Sorry.........

Henri
